Introduction

Our department, which started its education life under the name of Food Science and Technology Department within the body of Akdeniz University Faculty of Agriculture, which was established in 1983, was founded in 1989 by Prof. Dr. Hasan YAYGIN, who was also the first academic staff of the department. The department opened a master's program in the 1993-1994 academic year, and a doctorate program in the 1994-1995 academic year. The name of our department, which started undergraduate education with 20 students in the 1997-1998 academic year, was changed to the Department of Food Engineering in 1998. Our department had its first graduates in 2001. Our Department, which is within the body of Akdeniz University Faculty of Agriculture, was transferred to Akdeniz University Faculty of Engineering in 2009. Currently, 15 faculty members and 2 research assistants work in our department.
